'80s tracks in Just Dance: Decades of Hits

Neon stages, the loudest routine in the game, and two covers that re-recorded their vocals.

Quick answer

The '80s block has five tracks: It's Tricky (Run-DMC, Duet), Uptown Girl (Billy Joel, Solo), Into the Groove (Madonna, Duet), Jump (Van Halen, Solo) and Celebration (Kool & the Gang, Solo). Jump and Celebration use re-recorded vocals, and Jump is flagged as intense — the highest effort rating in the block.

The '80s block in Just Dance: Decades of Hits is rock and pop. Five years of music edited down to the tracks the developers thought a room would actually want to dance to, staged with the era's own visual identity: its own lighting palette, floor treatment and costume direction.

How the '80s block actually plays

The block is built as a pair of duets and three solos, which makes it unusual: if you have exactly two players, It's Tricky and Into the Groove are your '80s set and everything else is single-player. If you have a crowd, the three solos carry the room because everybody can follow the same arm shapes at once.

Jump is the outlier. It is a Van Halen cover credited to Metal Russell and it is the only '80s routine rated intense — the routine leans on continuous upper-body movement with no easy chorus to hide in. Treat it as the finisher of an '80s run, not the opener.

Celebration is the crowd-pleaser. It is a solo on paper, but the chorus is repetitive enough that a whole room can copy it from the screen. It is also the track that most often gets replayed on a second pass.

Covers in this block

Jump and Celebration are in-game covers. Both keep the tempo and structure players expect while swapping the vocal performance for a house act, which is why the singer sounds unfamiliar even though the song is instantly recognisable.

'80s in Adventure Mode

It's Tricky is the block's Adventure Mode song, and it lands in the second world of the campaign. The neon stage look in the campaign matches the standalone routine's staging, so the transition between story mode and song select is seamless.
