Just Dance: Decades of Hits FAQ
Short answers to the questions the store page does not.
Just Dance: Decades of Hits has 35 songs across six decades, supports up to six local players using phones as controllers, includes the Adventure Mode story campaign, and released on October 13, 2026 for Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 edition follows on November 10, 2026 as a free upgrade.
This page answers the things people ask in the first week. Where a question deserves more than a paragraph, it links to the guide that covers it properly.

The game itself
How many songs does it have? Thirty-five tracks across six decades, plus five alternate routines attached to specific songs. The 2020s block is the biggest with nine; the 2000s has six; the '70s, '80s, '90s and 2010s have five each. Full list on the song list page.
When did it come out? October 13, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 edition arrives November 10, 2026, as a free upgrade for Switch owners rather than a separate purchase — see the Switch 2 page.
Is it on PC or mobile? No. It is a console game on the three families above.
Do I need a camera or a dance mat? No. Every dancer uses a phone running the free Just Dance Controller app. No other input device exists for this game.
Is this the same as Just Dance 2026 Edition? No — it is a separate mainline entry with its own 35-song tracklist, its own story campaign and its own release. If you own the recent editions too, their songs merge into one library; the cross-edition library guide explains how.
Playing it
How many people can play at once? Up to six locally on one console, one phone per dancer. The routine that uses all five coach slots is Wannabe, the first five-coach routine in the series — the multiplayer guide has the lane counts.
Does local play need internet? No. All 35 tracks, the alternates and the full Adventure Mode campaign work offline. Only online multiplayer, library syncing and Just Dance+ content need a connection.
Why do my scores feel random? Usually display latency or phone placement rather than the game. The troubleshooting guide works through it in order, starting with television game mode.
Can I play with a friend online? Online features exist and sit behind your platform account plus, on Xbox and PS5, a paid online subscription. The online play page covers what works and what it requires.
What is the hardest song? MORE & MORE and Midnight Sun lead the base tracklist; the Extreme alternates for Wannabe and NUEVAYoL are the ceiling. The difficulty page lists the full spread, including which routines are hardest on stamina rather than technique.
Adventure Mode
What is it? A story campaign exclusive to this game: you play as Lyra Gigavolt, travelling through six decade-themed worlds to rescue her father, Dr. Gigavolt. It has mini-activities and exclusive cosmetic rewards. The Adventure Mode guide has the world order.
Does it need a subscription? No. It requires owning the game.
Can two people play it? Yes. Two dancers is the mode's sweet spot.
Buying
Which edition should I buy? Standard at $39.99 is the whole game. Limited adds the 2000s Digital Cosmetic Pack. Ultimate adds a Just Dance+ window, cosmetic sets, trial tokens and two permanently playable songs. No edition has more songs in the base 35 — the editions guide compares them.
Do I need Just Dance+? Not for the base game, the alternates or Adventure Mode. It is a streaming catalogue on top. The Just Dance+ page covers when it is worth it.
I bought it and the new songs are not there. Check the console's download queue and which profile owns it, then confirm you launched the right library entry. That exact problem has its own page: installing and unlocking.
Will it get more songs? Just Dance titles have historically been supported with additional content after launch. Nothing on this site claims what will or will not arrive; check the console store for what is available today.
Community-flavoured questions
Why do some tracks sound different from the originals? Four tracks in this game use re-recorded vocals credited to in-house acts, because the original masters were not licensable. The covers and originals page lists which ones and why.
Is the tracklist good? Launch-week community sentiment on r/JustDance was strongly positive overall, with the recurring criticism that a few Ubisoft original tracks sit oddly beside the "hits" framing. The what people are saying page collects the reported sentiment without dressing it up as fact.
